Season 9 Episode 3
Revisiting Asians in Music, 88 Rising's Cultural Impact, Generational Differences
In the past couple years, Asians/Asians in America/Asian Americans have really carved out a niche in the media world. As we think back, we grew up in the generation of Youtube musicians and cover artists who were never truly seen as real talent (not to say they weren’t talented - they definitely were). But what did that had to say about Asian representation back in the 2000’s and 2010’s?
Whether you like 88 Rising, saved up money to go to Head In The Clouds during a global pandemic (or not), or support Asian American artists through the thick and thin - you can’t deny that we have made progressions in recent years towards having a true presence in western media.
This episode is for those that grew up with MC Jin and China Mac but love to listen to Jackson Wang and Joji.
As always, listen to the full episode to hear in-depth explanations and discussions!
