Season 6 Episode 6
Making Your Favorite Foods Healthier Ft. Vincent aka Bentpinkeez
As much as we enjoy food here at Bad Bunz, we also try to eat a little healthier these days. Like most people, we don’t want to give up the tasty and delicious food we want to eat - so how do we make things healthier? We' asked our trainer friend, Vince, who runs his own fitness brand called Bentpinkeez, to share some of his favorite ways to eat well without sacrificing taste!
Meal Prep
I know you see the photo of him flexing… so how does he get into such great shape? These days, Vince has been meal prepping in order to get his portions under control. He doesn’t like to sacrifice flavor, so he likes to meal prep things like DIY Chipotle bowls, Asian-inspired flavors, and more. Meal prepping is a great way to save time during the week from cooking and give yourself some portion control.
Snacks
Who doesn’t like to snack? Sometimes you just need that pick-me-up in between meals. Vince shares that lately he’s really into incorporating fat free greek yogurt into his mix. He’s done things like making protein ice cream, yogurt mixes, and sauces with fat free greek yogurt. It’s a flexible alternative that allows you to cut down on calories and enjoy similar flavors to calorically dense snacks like ice cream.
Nuts are also a great alternative to carb-based snacks like chips and pretzels. Vince warns to make sure you portion-control nuts as they can be calorically dense, but they are an amazing source of fats to help you keep satiated.
Don’t drink your calories!
One of the best tips Vince left with us is to not drink you calories. Drinks like juice, smoothies, and of course our favorite - Boba, are usually loaded with excess calories you didn’t intend on consuming. Some of these drinks are loaded with sugars and can easily be over-consumed. If you crave something sweet, eating fruit is a great way to feel fuller and get that sugar fix you crave. Another alternative can be a diet beverage like Coke Zero. Although diet drinks get a bad wrap, you aren’t intaking additional sugars and are typically okay for a sugary drink fix here and there.
